Design Your Own Art Project

Truth of Happiness Video Project

For the design your own project, we got an option to do any project we wanted as long as it was done with some type of digital media. I chose to do cat photography for mine. I set up a background in a small room for my two cats and my friends cat and kept them distracted so I could take a few pictures of them. I chose this project to do because I am obsessed with cats and pet, especially cat, photography is some of the hardest photography to capture and I wanted to challenge myself through attempting this. It's important to communicate visually because sometimes just words dont say what you are trying to say, and its more visually appealing to people.

Logo Project

In this project we were asigned to make our own logos for either a family business, or our initials. I took a more creative, original approch on this and made a logo for my cat.

Digital Arts

We started out the Happiness project with reading multiple different articles, watching many movies/videos, and reading the book "Brave New World." Throughout the project, we looked into different people perspectives on happiness and what can make someone happy. We created annotated bibliography's with at least four different sources that  talked about the use of technology compared to happiness, and how technology can make people happier and more unhappy. As a class we had a structured academic controversy (SAC). Our prompt was, does technology increase happiness? Then we all had to put together an experiment that we would do and blog about for a week. My experiment was getting up in the mornings and getting ready with enough time to not have to run to the bus. At the beginning I took the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire and my score was, 2 out of 6. At the end of the week I took the same survey to see if my overall happiness level increased. With a score of 4 out of 6, I found that it did increase. The final product of this project was our happiness movies. We were able to pick our groups, as well as the topic we wanted to focus on in our movie. My group and I were interested on focusing more on the idea of music and how it can make people happy. Because music is a HUGE part of our everyday lives we decided to make our documentary on music. We did a little more research on this topic and found lots of interesting facts. We connected the concepts of the movie Happy, the book Brave New World, and other research we have conducted before into our movie.

Brave New World visual aide

In this project we first read the book "Brave New World" in humanities witch was a Dysopia. Then we made either a visual aide for the book, or for a dystopia vs utopia world, and I chose to make a visual aide for the book.

Teacher Creature project

In this project we took teachers faces and put them on a different with a new background. We learned how to use different Photoshop skills and tools. I used Sara's and Tina's faces. I sadly do not have any evidence because my teacher creature glitched out and never saved.

Photoshop Tutorials

This project was a preparation for our teacher creature we would be making later, to learn our way around Photoshop and learn how to use all the tools. I chose to do the dyeing hair tutorial because it looked super cool also because I love dying my hair so it was more personal to me. I love the colors I put in the hair, I think they go together very well. Even though in reality this coloring exactly would be very hard to pull of, I'm proud of the product.

Name Project

In our first Digital Arts project we were assigned to find objects around the school (preferably nature) that looked like letters and make a name with it. I chose to make the name "Grapes" because it is Roxy's nickname for me. Then we edited it in Photoshop and did several rounds of peer critique. This is how mine turned out.
